Feeling nervous about GTT@home Test

It is completely normal to feel nervous about taking a test at home. Many people feel more comfortable once they understand what to expect.

Having more information about the process can help you feel more confident when completing your screening.

Common Concerns

Will the finger prick hurt?
The lancet is designed to be quick and as comfortable as possible. Most people describe it as a small, brief pinch.

What if I do something wrong?
We recommend you read through the instructions fully and watch the Instructional Video at least one day before taking the test. You can also keep the instructions at hand the morning of the test for quick access.

I’m worried about seeing blood or using the device
It’s completely normal to feel this way. Taking your time, preparing everything in advance, and reading through the steps first can help you feel more in control.

What if I can’t get enough blood?
Washing your hands with warm water increases blood flow. Only a tiny drop is needed to complete the test, most patients do not have a problem with that.

What if I feel unwell during the test?
Drinking the glucose solution on an empty stomach can cause nausea. Cooling the drink over night can make it more palatable. If at any point the nausea becomes unbearable or results in vomiting, please contact the Customer Care team.

I’m nervous about drinking the glucose solution
The drink is safe and commonly used for this type of screening. Chilling it beforehand or drinking it steadily can make it easier.

What if I make a mistake and need to start again?
If something doesn’t go as planned, support is available. You can contact the Customer Care team for guidance.
